the world is numb to the infernal screams of tormented souls
cold, heartless, unfeeling
caring not for those who suffer so
whose hearts are breaking
whose eternal tears fall
the world is deaf and blind to true, pure love
peace and bliss are thorns in its flesh
it applauds wickedness and violence
it lusts after pain and sorrow
rejoices in the grief of angels and tears off their wings
killing hopes and dreams
feeding off the savage beatings of innocence
never giving, only taking
consuming all that is good
replacing it with that which is not
and those who will not stand idly by
are swotted at and crushed like flies
the world destroys all remnants of joy
until none of it is remembered
and mindless souls wander in
their horrid, twisted lives
never again to feel the warmth of love
but only to crumble and blow away
as dust in the wind
until nothing exists, but emptiness
